Motorcycle Touring in Swedish Lapland

The Lapland riding season

Lapland’s riding season is short. Roads typically clear from late May or early June, with the best conditions from mid-June through August. In high summer you get the midnight sun and near-constant daylight; by September the colours are stunning but nights are cold and services begin to close.

Plan for long distances between fuel and food. Keep an eye on your range, and do not assume every marked stop is open outside peak season.

Choosing the right motorcycle

Lapland rewards an adventure bike that can handle long stretches of gravel as comfortably as tarmac. A middleweight adventure motorcycle is a strong all-round choice — capable on the loose surfaces you will meet north of the Arctic Circle, without being exhausting on the long transit days.

If you are not shipping your own bike, you can rent an adventure motorcycle from a local owner through NORDIC RIDER and pick it up closer to your start point.
